Sandersville, Georgia- Mr. Marion Louis Snider, age 93, of 177 Camille Court entered into rest April 30, 2017, at his residence.

Mr. Snider was a native of Warren County, Georgia, and the son of late Bunyan G. Snider and the late Adell Dawson Snider. At age 19, he entered into the U. S. Army serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II and received a Philippine Liberation Ribbon with a Bronze Star for his meritorious service. Mr. Snider was retired as a rural carrier for the U. S. Postal Service with 35 years of service. He was a lifelong farmer and had a passion for watching things grow, especially his cows. As one of the founding members of the "Masonites" musical group, he always enjoyed playing guitar, singing Southern gospel with a little traditional country, and bluegrass wherever the group performed. During his lifetime, he was a faithful and devoted member of Mill Creek Baptist Church in Mitchell, where he had served as a Deacon since 1955 and as Sunday School Director for many years. He obtained the sublime degree of Master Mason and was a member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge #11 in Warrenton for 41 years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Snider was preceded in death by his wife, Avis Dye Snider. Over the past 15 years, Mr. Snider lived in Sandersville, GA, and attended Sisters Baptist Church. His faith in God and his love for his family and country were always exemplified by him.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Jeanette Jones Snider; daughters, Edith S. Smith (Marc) of Thomson, GA and Kay S. Rachels (Freddy) of Sparta, GA; son, Dr. Jerry M. Snider (Shelley) of Mitchell, GA; step-sons, Ben L. Amerson (Kim) of Sandersville, GA; and James B. Amerson (Cathy) of Greensboro, NC; sister, Betty Pulliam of Mitchell, GA; grandchildren, Charles Thomas Hanson, Jr. (Deborah), Clay Hanson (Kasey), Paul Searcy, Amy S. Brooks (Tim), and Bowen J. Snider; great-grandchildren, Charles Thomas "Trey"  Hanson, III, Rebecca Hanson, Will Hanson, Payton Searcy, Paisley Searcy, Chant Brooks, and Mary Kaylyn Brooks; and sisters-in-law, Betty Dye Williams, and Bessie Lewis Snider.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock p.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at Sisters Baptist Church in Sandersville, GA, with Elder Kenneth Brantley, Rev. Jason Loggins, and Rev. Marlon Lastinger officiating. Interment will follow at the Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Mitchell, GA.

The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m., Wednesday, one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in the memory of Mr. Snider may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 8287 Linton Road, Warthen, GA 31084; Sisters Baptist Church, 1807 McCarty Street, Sandersville, GA 31082; or to Gideons International.
