Lonnie Boyd Gay Stapleton, GA. - Mr. Lonnie Boyd Gay, 78 of McGahee Rd. entered into rest March 10, 2012. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the May Family Cemetery with Rev. Jim Martin officiating. Mr. Gay was a native of Stapleton, GA and was the son of the late Lonnie M. Gay and the late Lommie McTier Gay. He served in the U.S. Army and was retired as a carpenter from Plant Vogle. Mr. Gay was also an accomplished bluegrass musician and traveled with the gospel group "Frankie Moore and the Carolina Hymn Singers". He was a Baptist by faith. Survivors include his son, Gregory Freeman Gay, Thomson, GA; daughter, Angela Panzella and husband, Greg, Martinez, GA; brother, John R. Gay, Indiana; sister, Shirley G. May and husband, Leon, Thomson, GA; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Mr. Gay was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Gay Beerbohm and a sister, Vera M. Gay. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Monday, March 12, 2012 at the funeral home. Beggs Funeral Home, Thomson, Georgia is in charge of arrangements
